Woman Leads Double Life While Working Remotely from Africa Without Authorization

An American woman is opening up about her double life working remotely overseas without permission from her job. In an as-told essay from Business Insider , the woman who remained anonymous had a lot to say about the year she spent working internationally and the hoops she had to jump through to make it happen The nameless mom says she was allowed to work at her dream job, a sleep-study lab in Virginia. However, things changed after she became pregnant with her son. She worked up until the day she went into labor. Thankfully, her boss approved for her to work remotely from home to spend more time with her newborn.  “At that time, I was the only remote employee who worked for this company,” she told Business Insider. “Working at home wasn’t a luxury a lot of other people had the option to do, and I felt grateful. It was the only way I could take care of my son and not lose this dream job.” The new mother felt she was in the perfect position. She had her dream job and the flexibility...

Fans vs. Friends: What’s the Disparity?

The most common early mistakes made by artists is blurring the line between friends and fans. Be sure that you are continuously conscious of the difference between the two, or you may end up losing both of them.  NB: A friend loves you. A fan loves your work. It’s as simple as that. Now, if you’re lucky you will have both: friends who are also big fans of your work, and fans who become friends. But the distinction is important, and as artists, whether you are a writer, musician, tv show, photographer, etc. I believe your level of success is tied to how well you understand the difference. YOUR FRIENDS The early stage of an artist’s career is the only period of time where the artist will have more friends than fans. Because of this, many artists make the mistake of marketing their music and shows to friends instead of building a fanbase. Friends may not always love your art, and that is perfectly fine.  While they may not know the words to all of your songs, friends are often be...

Things You Need To Let Go Of By “Twenty Five”

People who make you question yourself, your self-worth, and who you are as a human being. The fear of dying alone, never finding love, or not being enough for someone. Any sense that you “deserve” to have something that you aren’t willing to work for. The people who didn’t love you back, and especially the ones who never will. An unwillingness to work to get better at something since you’re not in college and a grade doesn’t depend on it. The idea that asking for help makes you weak. Considering yourself “not like other girls” and therefore, writing off girls as friends. Considering yourself “not like most guys” and therefore, writing off guys as friends. Writing off ANYONE as a potential friend before you’ve actually taken the time to get to know them. Any anxiety of things that are new to you just because they aren’t like what you’ve always known. Prejudices that have been established because of the unknown. Habits ...

China rolls out world's biggest 5G network

Three state-owned carriers revealed their 5G data plans this week What just happened? China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom have launched 5G services across 50 cities in the country including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Huawei, blacklisted by the US, reportedly played a major role in China's 5G rollout. The launch of the network was initially planned for next year but got pulled ahead of schedule by the state-owned carriers. 5G networks have rolled out in several parts of the western world, but China's roll-out of the technology on Friday is reportedly the world's largest (yet). Prices of 5G plans by all three state-run telecom operators start at around $18 / month (30GB /500 call minutes) and scale up to $85 / month (300GB / 3,000 call minutes), which some experts say are potentially still too high for widescale adoption, given China's per-capita income. Reportedly, download speeds will also vary according to data plans. Subscribers o...
